Before we get started!

“A little progress each day adds up to big results”

Welcome and thank you for joining the Online Basic Tricks!! We are going to help you, step by step, to learn each trick that we are offering in this class, We are going make our precious dogs, their brains, make some noise and will have a big amount of fun by learning these tricks and making the bond grow between dog and human!

I would like to discuss a few things before we get started, make sure to give your pup/dog all the time they need to learn each step of all the tricks, one dog will be faster than the other, but this is not a problem and it shouldn’t become one either. Teaching your dog something should be filled with good energy. If it doesn’t work out then stop and try it again later or the next day, we all have our off days and this is totally normal, nothing good is going to come out of negativity. Every owner will learn to be patient with their dog and realize that you have to work together to be able to get the results that you want, but this is the same for every other little thing, it’s all about teamwork. Some people think it takes a long time to learn the tricks, but it’s all about how you split your time, schedule and of course how much you practice. I advice you all to practice the tricks everyday or every 2 days for around 20 min ( This depends on if you have an older dog or puppy as youngsters are not able to train for a long time and smaller sessions work better) Try to make it easy for yourself, grab a hand or 20 treats and if they are gone then the session is over. Practicing once every week will slow down your progress and the dog or pup might not be able to remember the trick 100% if you only train 20 min once in a week. You can do multiple sessions on a day, but make sure to give your dog rest between each session, make sure that you have around 2-3 hours of rest between each of them.

What reward methods do I need to use to teach my dog the tricks?
It’s all up to you how you wanna reward your dog, whether it is with a clicker or your own voice, it should be fine no matter what you use, if I could recommend something then I would say a clicker as I have a lot of good experience with using this method, you click and the dog knows that a reward is coming (of course you have to learn the dog first what the clicker means) A clicker also proves useful for people that can’t always use the same “reward voice” The clicker only has one sound so it’s quite easy for the dog to learn what the noise means. If you really don’t wanna work with the clicker then that is no problem either, I do advice to have 1 or 2 reward words that you use to reward the dog, it’s kind of the same as the clicker. Excitement also plays a big part in the game, dogs love happy voices and high sounds as they find them interesting. For example: Yeah! Great! Super! name it all, there are many words to use. That is why it’s important to be a bit crazy once in a while, so don’t be afraid to let it out!
